ZIPS

Another sore point for many sewing newbies! Trust me, it doesn't have to be. Regardless, if you want to install an exposed fashion zipper or a traditional lapped zipper, I have a video that will make this less daunting and maybe even fun.

JEANS

This method was used by my students at Wolverley High. They just picked up the folder and they were away. Now with the video too you can learn how to insert a perfect zipper into your jeans project.

CONCEALED

METHOD 1:
The concealed zip is my favorite for pants, skirts and dresses. Here the main difference is that the seam is closed before the zip is installed.

CONCEALED

METHOD 2:
The seam is closed after the zip has been inserted.
This makes the zip insertion easier as small errors are hidden when the seam is closed.

LAPPED

A sturdy zip which can withstand a lot of stress. Here I demonstrate how to insert the zip with lining. This may come in handy for a skirt. For children's clothes this is a good option!

EXPOSED:
FULLY VISIBLE

The video starts with a quick overview of all exposed zipper methods. The zip is fully visible, great for all those pretty zips which have a scalloped edge.

EXPOSED:
ZIPPER TEETH VISIBLE

The zipper teeth are visible and thanks to the lining you achieve a clean upper edge. Perfect for edgy heavy weight zips in skirts or dresses. This can take heavy zip toggles too.

EXPOSED:
SEAMLESS

Ever so often you want to put a zip into a skirt or dress, which doesn't have a center back seam to insert the zip into. This video shows you how to get that done with lining.

WELT POCKET

Let's put a zipper into a welt pocket. This is much easier than you think. Here I am demonstrating how to do that with my London bag. The video starts with inserting the welt pocket and adds a plain zip.
