Georgina Girls Sun Dress

5 (4)

Your girl will love this dress and so will you, because it’s very easy to make. It has a pretty heart appliqué which you will enjoy making with a bit of Bonda-Web. The front and back can be gathered or flat.

A yoke is excellent for mixing and matching fabrics to create a variety of fun looks. The neck hole is cut quite deep so a head fits through without having to put in a fastening.

This autumn I took the Georgina and created the cutest little wrap over style in the back. You can see how this is done in one of the videos below. It’s not always necessary to buy a new pattern. At Frocks & Frolics we want to teach you how you can amend a pattern to create another stylish look from a range of base patterns. If you are an inventive person and want to show off what you can do you can participate in the affiliate partner program.

I would use a heavier cotton or even wool and style the dress with woolly tights and a long sleeved t-shirt in the winter so it becomes more or less an apron dress. In the summer it’s a great sun dress as it is.

Whether you are an expert or just starting out the video tutorial will make it very clear what you have to do. If you are unsure if you can handle this pattern then simply watch the video to reassure yourself before you purchase the pattern.

The pattern is available for immediate download so you can get started straight away.

None of my patterns are multi sized so there is one size per file, this saves a lot of paper and confusion as to which line you have to cut.

You’ll receive two emails immediately after purchase. An invoice with a link to download PDF files of the pattern and instructions, which you can print at home on either DIN A4 or US letter size paper and a receipt. Please check your junk mail if the invoice is late. You can also access your pattern at any time through your account. Just log in and download. If you complete the purchase as a guest you have one time access only and will not benefit from updates to the pattern such as age extensions and added features in the future.

Medium to heavier weight fabrics, plain weave cotton, cotton sateen, cord, chambray or denim, double knit with low stretch.

  • Fabric: 50 cm - 1 m depending on the size
  • Matching thread
  • 50 cm of slim elastic for the sleeves
  • Iron on interfacing (lightweight) for the yoke lining

Simple but not plain

Posted by Isa on Jun 24th 2017
This is a quick and simple dress to sew. This dress has a good amount of ease since it has no closure. It was easy to adjust for my string bean princess and I was able to cut and sew 3 in one afternoon. This is a perfect beginner dress and does not have to look plain. I really like that it can grow with my daughter and go from a dress to a tunic.

This is the third pattern I have purchased the written details along with the video were so easy to follow, I made both styles the gathered front and the box pleat one. Both looked absolutely gorgeous. Cannot wait for more patterns how about dungarees for boys and girls.

It took me just 1/2 hour to finish the entire dress. The frock looked lovely on completion. Extremely simple to cut and stitch. The video is simply superb and takes care of every detail. Thanks

Simple and easy

The pattern was simple to adjust and sew easy to put together. The written instructions with pictures were great to reference and the You Tube video was icing on the cake. I loved how it turned out and will definitely be purchasing more patterns. Thank you sew much for making it easy for a beginner! I used an old sheet for the bodice and skirt and an old pillowcase for the lining. This was my first attempt so if I made a mistake I wouldn't be too mad! But it turned out like a dress I would buy in a store! I am beyond happy! Thank you!!!
