The London tote bag is always on trend. One summer my sewing course ladies asked me to do a super cute and useful bag for them. So, I went to work and created the London handbag sewing pattern. (Please note that the Out & About tote bag has been renamed London tote bag.)
This tote is super easy, has an on-trend shape, recessed zip, side pockets and if you like even a front welt pocket.
You can make this pattern with feature strips across the front and back for Camper Vans, Beach Hut theme or anything else that you fancy designing. You could also do plain strips or appliqué a name onto it. I still had so many ideas, but 20 bags later I gave it a rest and now leave it up to you to come up with something spectacular! Using oil cloth or heavier mix fabrics provides a great to make all your outfits but also makes the Out and About bag durable and stylish.

Fabric:
You can make the London tote bag in oilcloth or heavyweight linen/cotton mix fabrics. I tend to buy mine from upholstery outlets rather than fabric stores. They have beautiful selections, and you will be spoiled for choice.

• Shell: 90 cm / 35 inches (Fabric Width 1.4 m / 55 inches)
• Lining: 50 cm / 20 inches
• Fastening: 1 x Zipper / Length: 34 cm / 13 inches
• Pocket Zipper: 28 cm / 11 inches
• Matching sewing thread
• Sewing machine needle (90)
• Optional: ready woven Shoulder Strap (2 x 62 cm / 25 inches)
