The western blouse is going to be your girl’s favorite thing to wear! It has puff sleeves with a very smart turn up which is easy to make, a rounded large collar with a proper collar stand all explained in our detailed video and photo tutorials.
The yoke runs from back to front and simply looks stunning. I got carried away as per usual making all sorts of blouses testing different techniques and finishes. From adding diamante’s to cute ruffles it’s all there for you to bring country and western style to your sewing machine. The videos are ready to view any time on so scroll down and check them out before you go fabric shopping!
One thing I would probably not do again is add front pockets. Sometimes you change your mind. I also think it does not need the shirring in the back. If anything leaving those two details will actually make the blouse even cuter and also easier! Win, win situation.
This project is ideal for you if you want to progress from basic techniques
Now let’s talk cuffs. Itcan be finished with piping, lace insert or binding. The devil is in the detail as the methods change with each different finish. That is why there are some additional videos just showing these methods.
As fastening I am using the traditional buttons but you can use snap poppers. To make sure you get that right too there is also a short clip showing how to attach those poppers.
You can also make this blouse as a boy’s shirt. Just use the additional long sleeve, which I borrowed from the boy’s shirt.
Whether you are an expert or just starting out the video tutorial will make it very clear what you have to do. If you are unsure if you can handle this pattern then simply watch the video to reassure yourself before you purchase the pattern.
You’ll receive an email immediately after purchase with a link to download PDF files of the pattern and instructions, which you can print at home on either A4 or US Letter paper. When choosing the pattern make sure you tick which format you need. In the US and Canada choose US letter size which is wider and shorter than A4 paper. Everywhere else opt for A4 paper format.
